I'm running to bring practical solutions on affordability, jobs, and accountability for Congress in Georgia District 14!! Our community and our nation faces extraordinary challenges in a rapidly shifting, uncertain future. America is strongest when families live in a home they own, can afford to pursue their basic freedoms in a community that is safe, clean, and have good paying jobs.
Dr. Jonathan Hobbs is a dedicated leader committed to serving the people of Georgia's District 14. As part of his political campaign, he focuses on affordability, community values, and integrity, aiming to bring positive change to our state. His no-nonsense, straightforward approach addresses the real problems that matter to constituents in his district, especially as we head into the Georgia elections. Key issues include affordability, better infrastructure to alleviate the hours spent in traffic jams every single day, and tackling the health care crisis.
Affordability: Home ownership is still the American dream, and I will work to make homes affordable. I support HR 7138, a bill currently before Congress that disincentivizes corporate home ownership. 1 in 3 homes in metro Atlanta are owned by a corporation. I would eliminate tax deductions and low interest loan rates available to corporations, effectively raising the cost of home purchases by corporations.
Infrastructure: I support the construction of a passenger rail system along I-75 linking Chattanooga and Atlanta to alleviate the extraordinary vehicular traffic throughout District 14. Key rail stop locations can be installed to service city locations for commuters in District 14 working in Atlanta and surrounding areas. Additional light rail systems can provide service linking cities in District to the I-75 rail.
Immigration: The agriculture industry in District 14 depends on immigrant labor, and I support legal immigration, and secure enforcement of the border.
I support expedited immigration hearings through a tele-adjudication system. There are currently only 600 immigration judges in the US, and a tele-adjudication system will help alleviate the long process of court proceedings.
Border security is critical. It costs the taxpayer $18,000 to deport one illegal immigrant, this is an unacceptable burden on the taxpayer. I support the modernization of enforcement at the border by automated surveillance systems such as AI automated drone and robotic technologies.
The US health care system is ranked 38th in the world. It is the most expensive in the world and has the worst outcomes. It is absolutely broken.
My priority is to remove the government from the healthcare system. Providers and insurance carriers are incentivized to over charge the government leading to wasteful spending and pushing those costs onto the taxpayer.
I support a health care system, not a sick care system. Our focus should be on educating the public on preventative care, not on overly expensive symptom treatments.
Artificial intelligence will bring sweeping changes to the job landscape, revolutionizing many industries, and eliminating others.
I will work hard to bring high-paying, high skilled jobs to District 14.
I will support the creation of additional Federal grants to research institutions for the discovery and commercialization of new technologies related to artificial intelligence, energy production, and quantum computing.
Water is the most precious resource on the planet. Sadly, the level of plastics and PFAS pollution in our water supply in District 14 is unacceptably high.
We consume about 5 grams of plastics per week (about the size of credit card). Studies have shown that PFAS is linked to cancer, hormone disruption, and birth defects.
I will fight to clean this mess up! First, we need to install PFAS and plastics removal machinery in every municipal water treatment facility in the District. Second we need continuous transparent monitoring of water purity levels in real-time that is available to the public. Third, polluters must be held accountable.
As a rule, I am against any US involvement in any conflict that is outside of our territorial jurisdiction for a number of reasons:
The exception, maniacal rogue nation states like Iran, and to some extent North Korea that carry out aggressive, provocative agendas, terror attacks, and other activities that render diplomatic efforts impotent.
Information about nuclear arsenals or materials may warrant such an attack.
